What to look for

Signs of storm damage

If hail bigger than a quarter fell, or a neighbor’s claim got approved, you likely have damage worth documenting.

Dented gutters & vents

Hail leaves soft metal dented first — gutters, downspouts, vent caps, and the fins on your A/C unit.

Shingle bruising

Hail knocks granules loose and bruises the mat. You may not see it from the ground — we do, on the roof.

Granules in the gutters

Piles of sandy granules at the downspouts mean the shingle surface is wearing away fast.

Wind-lifted shingles

Straight-line winds crease or tear shingles off, exposing the underlayment and the deck.

The honest part — read this.

Summit Roofing documents storm damage and coordinates roofing to your insurer’s approved scope, but is a roofing contractor, not a licensed public adjuster, and does not negotiate, adjust, or settle insurance claims for a fee. Waiving, rebating, or absorbing a homeowner’s insurance deductible is unlawful in Missouri and we do not do it.

Storm & insurance questions

  • After a hail or wind storm we inspect your roof free and document any damage with photos. If there’s a covered loss, you file the claim with your insurer; we provide the documentation and meet your adjuster on the roof so nothing is missed. Once it’s approved, we restore the roof to the insurer’s scope and you typically pay only your deductible. We coordinate the roofing — we don’t take a cut of your claim.

  • We document the damage and meet your adjuster on-site, but we are roofers, not public adjusters — by law we can’t negotiate or settle your claim for a fee, and we won’t pretend to. You file and own your claim; we make sure the roof scope is complete and accurate. That honesty is exactly why insurers and homeowners trust us.

  • No — and you should be wary of any roofer who offers to. In Missouri it’s insurance fraud for a contractor to waive, rebate, or absorb your deductible on an insurance job. Your deductible is your share of a covered loss, and we’ll never ask you to commit fraud to do business with us.

  • After a big storm, out-of-state crews flood the metro, knock on doors, and disappear once the check clears. Protect yourself: hire a licensed, locally-based contractor you can verify, get the scope in writing, never let anyone pressure you to sign on the spot, and walk away from anyone who offers to waive your deductible. Summit is KC-based, licensed and insured, and we’re here for the next storm too.
